Die reetgedeckte Finnhütte (Nurdachhaus) liegt in der malerischen Landschaft des Mönchgut, mitten im Biosphärenreservat Südost-Rügen. Zum breiten, steinlosen Sandstrand sind es nur 300 m, zum Greifswalder Bodden 400 m und zum Bakenberg, der höchsten Erhebung von Südost-Rügen, 600 m.
Auch ohne Auto kann man gut Wanderungen unternehmen (250m: bis zum Fahrradverleih).
Zwei Kite- und Windsurfschulen befinden sich in Thiessow (2,5km).
