Art village Ootmarsum
The town of Ootmarsum is located within cycling distance (6 to 7 km) from 'de Bosrand'. The many authentic streets, beautiful buildings and the art of Ton Schulten, Annemiek Punt, Desirée Groot Koerkamp and many other artists make Ootmarsum an unforgettable town, and on a beautiful day you can visit all those people at once.
Throughout the year you can participate in all kinds of activities that are held in and around the historic town.
Every year a large folkloric “siepel market” is held in the centre of Ootmarsum with, among other things, demonstrations of traditional crafts, children's market and farmer's wedding.
Traditionally, the beautiful, historic centre of Ootmarsum will be transformed into a cozy siepelmarkt on the last Thursday of July and the first two Thursdays of August. Extraordinary stalls in picturesque streets, old crafts, surprising performances, original musicians and cozy terraces invite young and old for a visit. Luckily, the Farmers' Dancers will also attend all markets again this year. From 12 o'clock they dance through the streets, meet the visitors and invite them to the Twente Farmer’s wedding.
