The term “Krummhörn” comes from Low German and means something like crooked corner; a look at the map makes this clear. The south-western tip of the East Frisian peninsula protrudes like a nose to the south-west into the Outer Ems. Next to the tourist centre of Greetsiel are the 18 romantic Warff villages. In addition to their rustic, typical East Frisian houses, these villages are particularly characterised by their churches.
The village of Campen is located in the north-west of the Krummhörn. It was first mentioned as “Campe Maori” in the 10th century. And from here, we start for a trip to the larger towns of Emden, Leer, Aurich, or Greetsiel, each with a lot of culture and history.
