It is about a 15-minute walk to the center of Luino and the lake (shortcut) or about 3 km by car. This non-smoking house is particularly suitable for guests looking for a quiet and picturesque location with beautiful views of the lake and mountains. In total, the tastefully furnished house has a living space of about 85 m² and extends over 2 levels. The generous outdoor area consisting of a terrace of about 100 m² and a balcony of about 15 m², both with views of the lake and mountains, is a highlight. The house includes a private parking space. Luino (approx. 15,000 inhabitants) is of Roman origin ("Luvinum") and was first documented in 1169 as Luvino. Due to its unique location at the confluence of the five valleys Val Dumentina, Valcuvia, Val Marchirolo, Val Veddasca, and Val Travaglia, Luino has always had a special significance throughout history. The most important place on the eastern shore of Lake Maggiore, with its shops, restaurants, cafes, bars, sports center with 4 tennis courts, indoor pool (25 m x 12 m), sailing and windsurfing school, and marina, offers a variety of recreational activities. Additionally, the beautiful lakeside promenade with its huge plane trees and the old harbor from the Napoleonic era are particularly charming.
A romantic stroll through the alleys of the old town with its Renaissance and Baroque buildings, the courtyards with arcades, and the various small shops inevitably transports visitors back to old Lombard times. In 1541, Luino received the right to hold a market from Emperor Charles V, and so to this day, many people still come to Luino on Wednesdays to enjoy the colorful market hustle and bustle. Marked by its eventful history, the town has a vibrancy in history and culture with a particular penchant for literature: the poet Vittorio Sereni born in Luino and the writer Piero Chiara are among the most important modern European literati of the 20th century, and even today's Nobel Prize winner in Literature Dario Fo spent part of his life here. Even Ernest Hemingway mentions Luino in his famous novel "A Farewell to Arms," with the words: "and I saw on the opposite shore a wedge-shaped indentation between the mountains and thought to myself, that must be Luino."
