Congratulations! You did everything right and decided to give yourself some time. Time to breathe deeply, time to marvel, time to enjoy, time to be active and time to be lazy. We would like to offer you the perfect setting for this. Who is we?
These are Barbara Hofer, Wolf Andreas and little Leonhard. Together we run an organic farm with suckler cow husbandry and forestry out of deepest conviction, which we also like to share. This farm is situated alone in a small bulge of the Johnsbach valley, at the foot of the Hochtor massif with a breathtaking view of the Gesäuse mountains. OnTop of it all, you have a direct view of an 80-meter waterfall cascading over the rock walls from your accommodation and reside right next to the stream that divides our farm. Your accommodation is the house 1683 on the edge of a large meadow.
The house 1683 was built in the year - you might have guessed right - 1683 as a granary. The granary was a building of great importance on such a farm, because the supplies that ensured people's survival in the winter were stored. Accordingly, the craftsmen worked carefully with of their expertese and tools they had . Exactly this importance of the building and the careful, craftsmanship of that time were an incentive for us to implement these virtues also in the renovation of the building with a lot of commitment, own work and regional craftsmen.
The aforementioned conviction as an organic farmer includes above all: mindfulness and sustainability. These are not empty words for us, but lived values. For example, only wood from trees that have died due to bark beetle infestation was used as construction timber. The remaining building materials were also chosen to be as natural as possible. The roof is made of clay, the insulation is made of cellulose and the interior plaster is made of lime. Heating is provided by a heat pump- granary from 1683 goes 21st century.
