Oostende (about 63.000 residents) has something for everyone. You'll find several sandy beaches, lots of attractions, Belle-Epoque architecture, museums, culture, magnificent dunes, a beautiful park in the city centre as well as an extensive green hinterland that invites you to hiking and cycling.
Holiday destination
The flat is located in a two-family-home in a quiet, nice residential area in Mariakerke Bad-Oostende. It is furnished in a cosy, homely style and only a 10-minute walk from the wide sandy beach. You will find all the comforts you are used to.
The immediate vicinity offers shops and banks as well as bus stop (it takes about 10 minutes to get to Oostende's centre by bus).
Getting there
Oostende is a port city with a glorious past and 5 beautiful sandy beaches: the Oosterstrand, the Kleine Strand and Große Strand, the Mariakerkestrand and the Raversijdestrand. After an unforgettable beach holiday, it is worth checking out the town with its numerous attractions: 1) the Historic Museum; 2) James Ensorhaus; 3) Prince Karl Memorial; 4) the Atlantikwall (a defensive line); 5) the Walraversijde Museum; 6) Fort Napoleon; 7) the Japanese Garden; 8) the sail training ship Mercator (now a museum); 9) Mu.ZEE Museum of Modern Art; 10) Museum of Fine Arts; 11) Amandine, the last trawler ship in Oostende; 12) the St. Peter church tower; 13) Church of St. Peter and St. Paul with the ceremonial tomb of Belgium's first king.

Wo machst Du Urlaub? in Ostende? Nee, da ist es doch total hässlich!
Stimmt nicht!
Wir waren in einer liebevoll eingerichteten Ferienwohnung, wo alles vorhanden war, was man so benötigt incl. DVD´s mit dem dazugehörigen Abspielgerät.
Die Lage war wunderbar ruhig und es gab keine hässlichen Hochhäuser, sondern süße kleine Reihenhäuschen. Fußläufig ist ein kleiner Supermarkt und der Strand ist auch in unmittelbarer Nähe, genauso wie Restaurants und andere Gastronomie.

Es war alles da was man braucht und gemütlich eingerichtet. Außerdem ist die Ferienwohnung ist in keinem Betonklotz am Strand und auch nicht in einem Mobil-Home Ghetto, sondern in einem ruhigen Wohngebiet.
Für unsere Fahrräder wurde auch noch ein Platz gefunden.
Eine gute Basis für unsere Ausflüge mit dem Rad in die Stadt, an der Küste entlang und nach Brügge sowie unsere Trips nach Brüssel, Antwerpen und Gent mit dem Auto (Registrierung des Fahrzeugs in den jeweiligen Umweltzonen nicht vergessen ! - sonst wird es teuer !)
Alles in allem : ein schöner Urlaub
