The river Elbe cyling track is very popular and Tangermünde is on of it´s most atractive stopovers.
A canoe-trip on the big river Elbe is an unforgetable experience.
Restaurants and bars, even a little brewhouse are all in walking distance. There is a bakery and other shops very close. The City Museum you will find right at the market sqare.
It´s 200 km from Hannover or Hamburg and only 120 km from Berlin to Tangermünde. The little old town is very close to Stendal. You can reach Tangermünde by train via Stendal, on bicycle traveling on the Elbe cycling track, by boat traveling on the river Elbe or by car via Magdeburg, Wolfsburg or Rathenow. Tangermünde is a stopover on the St. James Way from Brandenburg to Saxony Anhalt.
