Holiday destination
The former fishing village Chiessi is located on the west coast of Elba, also called "Costa del sole" the sunny side of the island. Many people come in the evening to watch the beautiful sunsets, the sun sets here behind the silhouette of Corsica in the sea. Location and surroundings In the center of the village Chiessi, next to the little church, the Hotel "il Perseo" is located, three minutes to go from the Casa di Floris. You can buy daily fresh croissants, newspapers, snacks and ice or have lunch or dinner in its cozy restaurant. Small shops for daily needs, such as bakeries grocery stores, bars, pizzerias and restaurants can be found in the neighboring village of Pomonte, about 15 minutes' walk or a short drive from Chiessi. A little further south is the village of Fetovaia. Those who prefer sandy beaches, finds there one of the most beautiful of the island. Protected by a promontory, it is very suitable for small children. There is a lively beach bar with a restaurant, a kiosk and toilets available. It is just 20 minutes drive to the nearest large town Marina di Campo. There are many hotels, bars and restaurants and a shopping street with very nice shops. Also a large supermarket with long opening times is available and every Wednesday there is a weekly market. At the end of the long bay of Marina di Campo is a pretty little marina with many fishing boats located. At the beach promenade you also find diving and surfing schools.
