Holiday destination

Apart from the many facilities in the park itself there are countless possibilities for recreation and leisure in the surrounding area, both indoors and outdoors. To name but a few: on the shores of the IJsselmeer you can sail, sunbathe, swim or surf, offering a perfect combination of water, nature, sunbathing and the beach. Approximately three kilometres away is Medemblik, a place not only known as a modern sailing centre but also as the proud owner of a pleasant and authentic harbour. The many shops and nice restaurants make it a lovely little town. Medemblik is the home port of the steam-train that travels to Hoorn. Radboud castle is also worth visiting, just like the Bakery museum and the Steam-engine museum.
