Heiligenblut am Großglockner is a well-known and famous recreation center, already appreciated by Emperor Franz Josef and Empress Elisabeth, for both winter and summer with truly hospitable people and much originality. The church of the pilgrimage, which dominates the town, is well known all over the world.
The inhabitants of Heiligenblut live and cultivate their traditions and the unique cultural landscape.
Heiligenblut has a very beautiful, snow-safe ski / snowboard area (up to 2960m) with quaint and very cozy huts (see Skiatlas). Also well-known for avalanche-free freeriding and ski tours in unspoiled nature.
Cross-country ski trail, winter hiking trails, ice rink, ice rink, ice climbing wall and illuminated toboggan run. Horse sleigh rides are also offered.
In the summer, wonderful hikes of all levels of difficulty are possible - from easy on asphalted paths to difficult alpine climbs. The children will have a lot of fun in the nature, already on the trip on the Hochalpinen Großglocknerstraße (only open from May until the end of October, once you must have driven this!). Nordic walking park and running park are available. All of them, especially the children, should not miss gold washing in the summer. You must also experience the famous glacier. Famous are also the beautifully blossoming , the marmots and the capricorns as well as the festivals - for example "Lammfest" and thanksgiving in September - and some annually repeating events like the Großglockner-run in July with many celebrities and oldtimerrallye etc. Mountain guides and hiking guides are on site! The anglers among you with the Möll is a popular fishing revier available! Very well known area for fly fishing! Also the Möll offers water sports (canoe, rafting, etc.). Eldorado for motorcyclists. And for the "hard" cyclists and mountain bikers, the Großglockner-area is also known as a dream ride. The 'normal' cyclist can ride on bicycle paths to Klagenfurt.
Numerous (day) excursion possibilities, for example to Venice or the Adriatic Sea. The famous bathing lakes of Carinthia are within 1 - 2 hours distance.
The National Park Hohe Tauern, which is part of the Heiligenblut, offers a diversified program for young and old.
Most of these services, such as the use of the Großglocknerhochalpenstraße, the mountain railways, the gold washing, swimming, guided national park hikes, animal observation and much, much more in Carinthia are reduced or free of charge because our guests receive the NationalparkKaerntencard.
Furthermore Heiligenblut has an indoor swimming pool with sauna and solarium, tennis courts and riding facilities.
In Winter the so-called Großglocknerhochalpenstraße is closed behind Heiligenblut. Therefore you are coming from the direction Winklern/Großkirchheim and follow the Großglocknerhochalpenstraße in Heiligenblut to the right. If you follow the Großglocknerhochalpenstraße you will first pass the "Haus Schmidl", then the "Hotel Senger" and shortly afterwards you will find the Töpferstube on the left side of the road. There you turn to the riht and follow the sign "Landhaus Glocknertraum" (still 150 m).
In summer you can use the Großglocknerhochalpenstraße and therefore you will come from the other direction. Then you will find the Töpferstube on the right side of the road. Now turn left and follow the sign (see above).
