This over 200 year old country house is idyllically situated amidst a park-like garden of 3000m² on a historic mound in the village of Eckwarden, only about 1000m away from the dyke. The house was completely renovated in 2013/14 and stylishly furnished after the motto 'antique meets IKEA'. The mixture of old and new furniture gives the house a very special, individual country house charm. The old, high windows, old tile and wooden floors, antique doors and high ceilings contribute to the charming atmosphere. The spacious living area of approximately 155m ² on the ground floor is divided into a hall with an open dining area, a practical kitchen, a new bathroom with bath tub and shower, a large 'sunlit' bedroom (27m ²), a large living room (29m ²) with an attached bedroom (15m ²) and another, slightly smaller bedroom (13m ²). Here you will find a quiet place on your own or enough space for socializing in larger groups on the sofa or at the dining table. In the garden you can stroll around undisturbed, enjoy nature and let the time go by on the terrace or under the trees. The whole setting and its atmosphere are full of peace, you will be able to enjoy it all by yourself and experience a relaxing and very special holiday.

The Butjadingen peninsula, framed by the Jade Bay, the North Sea and the Weser estuary, offers access to the Wadden Sea National Park on all sides and stands for a green, wide landscape, fresh, salty air and a rich nature. In the south of Butjadingens lies the quiet village of Eckwarden. It has a small but well-stocked supermarket that even opens on Sundays during the season, and a country inn with a generous menu - all within walking distance. A noaarow street leads to the dike and small harbour of Eckwardersiel in approx. 1000m distance. Away from the bustle of life, you can peacefully enjoy natural spectacle of the sea and walk along the fortified dyke along the water. On the groynes, protruding into the sea ,small sandy coves have formed, where everyone can still find his "own" small sandy beach. The next official beach in Eckwarderhörne is about 3km, a little further away are the North Sea baths Tossens and Burhave with larger beaches, a wave pool and the North Sea lagoon and the old fishing cutter harbour Fedderwardersiel, where regular trips to the Wadden Sea are offered. From Eckwarderhörne you can also take guided walks in the wadden sea or go by ferry to the naval port of Wilhelmshaven. Other destinations are Bremerhaven with its many museums, the Jaderberger Zoo or the cities of Bremen and Oldenburg.

Coming from Oldenburg, with East Frisian roots, I have always had a strong connection to the North Sea coast and the dream of beautiful country life. I have now come a little closer to this by acquiring the house 'Auf der Höchte'. Finally, I have found the place where I can accommodate the beautiful old furniture of my grandmother, let off steam in the garden and develop artistically. The idea that other people can share in the idyll of house and garden by renting it, pleases me greatly.
