Horse back riding or carriage, fishing, whale, dolphin watching, hike to the many lakes, Go to the city for big game fishing, shows, cultural events, shopping. Walk around the crater of lagoa do fogo. Thermal waters of Ferraria or go to the spa to relax.
Holiday destination
Sete Cidades Lake, Lagoa de Santiago, Lagoa do Canario, Esplanada or just a 15 minute drive from Casa dos Ilhéus. Ferraria´s hot thermal springs are just 10 minute drive from the home. The village has a guarded beach, natural pools and fishing port just 5 minute drive. The bus stop with hourly schedule to Ponta Delgada is in walking distance.
Batalha, 27 hole golf course is 35km, Furnas also has a golf course. At Mosteiros fishing port you can rent a boat go fishing, dolphin watching or see the caves along the coast line. Take a walk thru Gruta do Carvao see the formation of volcanic activity. Ponta Delgada 30 minute drive has many restaurants, theaters, shopping mall, ferry boats, cultural events, all to keep you busy then come home & relax
Getting there
When you leave airport head towads Relva, you will be on the main road, you will pass the villages of Fetaira, Candelaria, Ginetes, Varzea, and then you will see a sign that say Mosteiros turn left. Go left until you see a sign that says Pico de Mafra, make a U Turn and come back, you will pass 5 homes on your right. You will see a yellow building that look like a chapel, between that building and the last home you will see a sign that reads Rua Do Caminho Velho. Enter and follow it down a little ways you will see on your right the #14 white house with green gate. The reason for the U Turn is that the road does not allow you to go left.

We stayed for about 12 days and stayed at two of Celias houses, it was just wonderful. We first stayed in the west at her house in Mosteiros. The view from the house is extraordinary. My family and me loved staying there and explored the west of the Island from there. The house has everything you need and so many things nearby to explore.
Afterwards we moved to Nordeste in the east. The house was breathtaking, built with so much love. We really enjoyed the pool. The location is perfect to explore the east of the Island including Furnas. We only wish we could have stayed longer to enjoy and relax at the house.
Staying at Celias houses was exactly what we needed while exploring Sao Miguel. Definitely a Recommendation.

We stayed here for six nights and then spent another eight nights at another one of Celia's properties which was the other side of the Island. The house has fantastic views of the sea stacks in front and it has lovely gardens for a BBQ, The house is well equipped and has WIFI. It is convenient for exploring Sete Cidades and the Termas da Ferraria thermally heated natural pools and sea inlet. In the town of Mosterros there is a great beach for snorkelling around the rocks and rock pools. Celia is a fantastic host, who met us at the airport. She is full of information about what to do in the area and around the Island. She always replied promptly to any queires that she had.
