Beach holiday
Egmond aan Zee is located in the municipality of Bergen in the province of North Holland. Originally a fishing village, it has increasingly been shaped by tourism since the beginning of the last century. Egmond aan Zee has an 8-kilometer-long sandy beach and is therefore particularly popular with families. This cozy place offers a variety of restaurants, beach pavilions, and shops that are open daily throughout the year. A well-known event is the half marathon. The lighthouse of Egmond, named Jan van Speyk, is a particularly beautiful sight. In the surrounding area, you can find the castle chapel, the ruins, and the abbey. Egmond offers numerous opportunities for walks, swimming, surfing, and sailing, ensuring that boredom is never an option.
In Egmond, you are a welcome guest! We are proud of our beautiful little village, our history, the beach, the dunes, and nature. Each season has its charm. No matter what time of year you visit Egmond, you are warmly welcome! Our range of shops, restaurants, and accommodations is diverse. Whether you are looking for a special little shop, a small bistro, a restaurant with an Italian menu, a beach pavilion with a fantastic view of the sea, a cozy grand café, or a trendy restaurant, you will find them all in Egmond.
Egmond aan Zee is an excellent seaside resort for families. No matter what season you visit Egmond: the beach and sea will captivate you. Just let the wind blow around your nose, take a walk on the beach, and relax wonderfully. Enjoy relaxing, the infinite horizon, sunbathing, or just walking barefoot through the water, flying kites, building sandcastles, searching for shells, perhaps strolling along the boulevard with its view over the Egmond beach and the sea, etc. In Egmond aan Zee, all this is possible! Egmond offers peace, space, and fresh air. Also great: relaxing on one of the (heated) terraces of the cozy Egmond beach pavilions. We are sure of it: you will return home re-energized.
In the Egmond dunes, there is so much beauty to see and discover: interesting birds, Scottish Highlanders, cute rabbits, diverse plants, and endless hiking and cycling paths. Moreover, the Egmond dune area is a place where you can find peace: far away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, the lively center, and all other daily worries.
Those who love conviviality should visit Egmond aan Zee! What actually makes Egmond aan Zee so beautiful? Egmond aan Zee is a cozy village with a long history. A history that can be found everywhere in Egmond and gives the village its authentic character. Just think of the small boats in the parking lots, the small centuries-old fishermen's houses, the former old sailors' home, the lighthouse J.C.J. Speijck, the narrow streets, the allotment gardens in the dunes, all combined with the many beautiful, smaller, and somewhat larger shops on Voorstraat. In addition, the restaurants, beach pavilions, and ice cream parlors within walking distance make Egmond a sociable, enchanting, and cozy village. Whether you want to eat in a small bistro, a restaurant with an Italian menu, in a beach pavilion with a fantastic view, in a cozy grand café, or a trendy restaurant: Egmond has something for every taste! Many of the Egmond shops are open seven days a week, by the way. After shopping, you can sit down on one of the cozy (heated) Egmond terraces.

From Egmond, the cheese city of Alkmaar is also an excellent tip for a day trip. From April to early September, every Friday at 10 a.m., the cheese bell is rung on the Waagplein. Then visit the surprisingly remarkable Cheese Museum, discover the wonderful shopping streets of the old town, and have a fun day in historic Alkmaar.
