- Bicycle tours are ideal directly from the house. Ride along the field paths to Dannenberg, Hitzacker or discover one of the great Rundling villages and ride along the German Stork Route.
- Swimming is a wonderful morning or evening ritual in summer. Jump into the Jeetzel (tributary of the Elbe) to cool off. The bathing area is within walking distance behind the house.
- Canoe tours: If you have a canoe, bring it along. With a canoe trolley you can walk to behind the weir and then put in and paddle to Hitzacker. A great spectacle of nature.
- Fishing: The area is perfect for fishing enthusiasts. There are numerous fishing opportunities on the old Jeetzel River, which is within walking distance, or on the Elbe and Lake Thielenburg.
Holiday destination
The VILLAGE
Lüggau is situated in the beautiful Wendland, between the Elbe, Hitzacker and Dannenberg, only 1.5 hours by car from Hamburg. A pure natural paradise! In Lüggau, in the middle of the village centre, with house number 3, the almost 130 year old imposing listed half-timbered house stands on a 2,400 square metre plot of land, which is overgrown with a very old stock of oak trees. The focal point of the garden is a huge chestnut tree that is almost 100 years old.
THE VILLAGE COMMUNITY
Our house is located in the centre of the village and because of the history that connects us with the farm as well as with the people of the village, it is firmly integrated there. That this is now changing with you is part of a natural change. We hope that you will be an enrichment and enliven the village. However, we would also like to make it clear in advance: If you already know that you are a very loud group and want to party until late at night, then you are not in the right place with us.
The SURROUNDINGS
There are many organic farms in the area, some of which sell eggs and other products. Dannenberg is not far away (2km) and there are all the supermarkets and other shops you need. The open-air swimming pool is also there, as well as pharmacies, banks, etc. You can even cycle along the country lanes if you know your way around - we'll be happy to explain!
Getting there
Lüggau is right next to Dannenberg (Elbe) in the catchment area of Hamburg, Berlin and Hanover, making it perfect for family gatherings. Just as our family used to come together here in the past, it should now become so again. The Wendlandhof Lüggau should remain and become a place where families and friends come together and learn to love the farm and the place, so that it becomes a symbol of connectedness.
By train: From Hamburg, Hanover and Berlin, travel to Lüneburg and from there take the slow train to Dannenberg Ost. From the station it is not far to Lüggau - but you will still have to take a taxi or be picked up by others travelling with you.
By car: From Hamburg, take the A7 and A39 and from there the B216 to Lüggau. From Hanover you can also take the A7 and then the B216, or you can take the B188, B3 and B191. From Berlin, take the A24 and then the B191 or the federal roads.
