Hop on a bike for a scenic ride along the sea dike to Makkum or Hindeloopen, or for an active tour through the beautiful woods of Gaasterland. Enjoy the sun, the wind, and the typical Frisian landscape to the fullest. A short walk or bike ride takes you to the cozy spot in the heart of Workum's center. Savor a delicious fish at the fish stand or visit one of the many charming restaurants on the square. Just around the corner, you'll find the famous Jopie Huisman Museum. During the summer months, there's a lovely tourist market on the square each week. Both Makkum and Workum boast beautiful, large sandy beaches on the IJsselmeer coast. The 11 other Frisian cities are definitely worth a visit too. Don't miss out on experiencing (or participating in) the spectacular Frisian sports of Skûtsjesilen or Fierljeppen. In the town of Workum, you can rent bicycles and boats.
