Surroundings
You will be staying 1 km away from the famous Pont Julien, one of the best-preserved Roman bridges in France dating back to 3 BC. The bridge was part of the Via Domitia. Today, the Calavon cycle route (veloroute du cavalon) crosses the bridge. Other significant attractions include the ochre quarries of Roussillon (5km) and the castle of the Marquis de Sade in Lacoste (4km).
Garden and Grounds
The house is situated on a small country road leading to one of the most beautiful villages of the Luberon. A first large garden is located in front of the house, offering breathtaking views of Bonnieux, Lacoste, and vast lavender fields (all photos taken from the grounds facing north with Mt. Ventoux, west with Lacoste, and to the south and east). Here you can have breakfast in the shade of a plane tree. On the other side of the house, hidden from view, you will find a landscaped garden with an ancient olive tree, a saltwater pool (8x4m, depth 1.50m, heated in the mid-season), and a large covered terrace. The rear garden is bordered by a partly ochre-colored, wooded rock backdrop and a stone wall.
The Property
Ground Floor
The ground floor consists of a small dining room, located right next to the fully equipped kitchen. A large, bright living room with high ceilings and a beautiful fireplace, a dining table for 6 people, and a comfortable leather sofa is also on this level. Each room is separated by 1-2 steps.
First Floor
Going up the stairs in the living room, you will come to a mezzanine overlooking the living area with a sofa and armchairs, TV, and Blu-ray player.
To the left of the mezzanine is the first bedroom with a double bed and an adjoining bathroom (shower and toilet). A second bedroom is located in the extension of this first bedroom (a door connects the two bedrooms, but each bedroom has its own entrance so it is not continuous and can be used separately). Going through this second bedroom with a double bed, you encounter a second staircase leading down to the house's entrance. To the right of the stairs is the third bedroom, also with a double bed, and diagonally across from the two bedrooms is a bathroom with a bathtub and toilet.
Well-behaved dogs are allowed.
You'll be staying 1 km away from the famous Julian Bridge, a piece of Roman ruins. In ancient times, it was used to cross the river "Le Calavon" and travel to Narbonne or in the other direction to Turin in Italy. Today, it is part of the rich heritage left by the Romans in the Vaucluse and is appreciated by cyclists and hikers.
You can park your car on the property. Daily shopping can be done in Bonnieux. The nearest large supermarket is located in Apt, about 8 km from your holiday home.
