Activities: Swimming, fishing, horseback riding, tennis, squash, cycling, and hiking. In the immediate vicinity of the village, a large part of the dunes belongs to the nature reserve "Zwanenwater". This nature conservation area, consisting of dunes, marshlands, lakes, and forests, covers approximately 550 hectares and is home to the largest colony of seagulls in Europe, with fish herons, herring gulls, and great black-backed gulls.
Holiday destination
Callantsoog is a former fishing village and one of the few seaside resorts in the province of North Holland that are situated directly by the sea. The village center exudes atmosphere with its shops, restaurants, and cafes with 'cozy' terraces. For the active, there are numerous options. The dune belt in the center is narrow, and you can reach the beach in no time. The beach stretches for miles in both directions.
