The gorgeous, idyllic Frisian town of Makkum offers various amenities for your daily needs - supermarket, butcher, bakery, chemist, fishing shop, florist, bookstore, hairdresser, doctor, pharmacy, etc.
Shops, good restaurants, snack bars and charming cafes in the town itself and along the beach promenade finish off the list and there truly is something for every taste. Not far from the lock at the small harbour and opposite the shipyard there's a very popular fish stand - the "Kibbeling", for example, is very tasty and is a must-try. Between the beach resort and the beach promenade is the beautiful marina and "Beaufort" restaurant, which is very popular with us, guests as well as locals.
Within the holiday park itself you can rent, for example, electric boats, sloops, SUP's, canoes, bicycles, e-bikes and kettcars, play mini golf and there are 2 hard tennis courts (all for a fee), several children's playgrounds and a play area (Middelgronden) where you can enjoy various sporting activities such as basketball, soccer, volleyball etc.
In the main building you'll also find a souvenir shop, fitness studio, pool table, air hockey table and fresh bread.
Water sports enthusiasts will find Makkum and the surrounding area an absolute paradise for kiting, sailing, surfing, catamaran, jet skiing, boating etc.
How about, for example, a course at the nearby "NorthWest-Kiteboarding" kite school? The owner, Marcus Schluter, is originally from Germany and has lived in Makkum for many years. Highly recommended.
The cities of Sneek, Workum and Harlingen are also well worth seeing and simply a great place to experience the beauty of Friesland. Amsterdam can be reached by car in an hour or so via the final dike. Or how about a trip to the island of Texel?
Getting there
Arriving via ARNHEM: A50 towards APELDOORN - ZWOLLE - N50 towards EMMELOORD/KAMPEN - A6 towards JOURE - A7 towards SNEEK/AMSTERDAM, then take exit 16 MAKKUM/WITMARSUM and turn left at the junction towards Makkum.

Wir haben die Tage in der sehr schön eingerichteten ,sehr sauberen und mit allem was das Herz begehrt ausgestatteten Villa Leuchtturm sehr genossen. Vielen Dank an die sehr netten Vermieter.

Wir haben zu fünft eine wunderbare Woche in dem Ferienhaus verbracht. Das Haus zeichnet sich durch eine gelungene Aufteilung mit einer Ausstattung, die für uns keine Wünsche offen gelassen hat, aus. Alles war äußerst gepflegt und sauber. Sehr nette, zuvorkommende und vor allem sehr hilfsbereite Vermieter. Abgerundet wurde der Urlaub durch eine wunderschöne Gegend, die zu Ausflügen einlädt.
Dank der ausschließlich positiven Erfahrung können wir das Haus nur weiterempfehlen!
