Madeira is known for its Levadas, irrigation channels in function of agriculture and horticulture. Along these Levadas, paths have been created in order to maintain them. They offer the walker the possibility of enjoying the most spectacular views on relatively flat terrain.
Villa 'Casa OM' is located on the southwest coast of Madeira in the very quiet village of Senhora do Amparo and is surrounded by beautiful nature reserves where you can hike to your heart's content. Ponta do Pargo, the most westerly point of Madeira, is about three kilometres away. There are several restaurants here where you can enjoy local dishes. After exploring the west coast further, you reach the town of Porto Moniz with its popular natural sea swimming pools.
But also the livelier Calheta is only about ten kilometres away from the villa. Several boat trips depart from here to look for whales and dolphins.
The villa is also an ideal starting point for further exploration of the area and the island.
